Brent Moore is a retired Lieutenant and former Special Operations Commander with the Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS), bringing nearly 17 years of law-enforcement, investigative, regulatory, and command experience to Southeast Consulting & Analysis.

During his DPS career, Mr. Moore served in assignments ranging from field enforcement and complex regulatory investigations to command-level public safety and special operations. His positions included Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer, FMCSA Compliance Investigation Officer, FMCSA Safety Auditor, Post Commander, Assistant to the Commanding Officer, and Special Operations Commander.

As Special Operations Commander, Mr. Moore founded and commanded the Georgia DPS Nuclear Radiological Detection Team, developing and leading a specialized law enforcement capability focused on the detection and interdiction of illicit nuclear and radiological materials. He also served as a co-coordinator for GEMA's Emergency Support Function 13 (ESF-13), helping coordinate state law-enforcement resources during disasters, emergencies, and civil disturbances.

His work extended beyond operational law enforcement into public policy and government affairs. Mr. Moore drafted legislation for consideration by the Georgia General Assembly, provided technical expertise and legislative testimony, and served on a congressionally mandated working group tasked with updating national policy for commercial vehicle safety programs.

Mr. Moore also has extensive experience in commercial vehicle enforcement, hazardous materials regulation, and regulatory investigations. As a Post Commander, he led a team responsible for conducting motor carrier compliance investigations and safety audits. He was routinely called upon to train and assist DPS legal counsel with complex questions involving regulatory interpretation, enforcement, and legislative matters.

Today, attorneys, businesses, government entities, and other organizations retain Mr. Moore for consulting, investigations, regulatory analysis, litigation support, expert-witness services, policy and program development, and professional training. His specialized areas of expertise include FMCSA compliance, commercial vehicle safety, hazardous materials transportation under 49 CFR, public safety, and regulatory enforcement.

Mr. Moore is certified by the FMCSA National Training Center as an Associate Staff Instructor and has trained inspectors and investigators from across the United States. He was selected as a subject matter expert for national hazardous materials course redevelopment and the development of advanced investigative techniques training and has been invited on multiple occasions to instruct at the FMCSA National Academy.  He also holds general and specialized instructor certifications from the Georgia Peace Officers Standards and Training Council.

His consulting approach is grounded in nearly two decades of experience applying regulations, conducting and supervising investigations, commanding specialized operations, developing policy, working with legal counsel, and coordinating with government agencies. This practical background allows him to analyze complex problems from an operational, investigative, regulatory, and legal perspective.

Mr. Moore holds dual Bachelor of Science degrees, summa cum laude, in Interdisciplinary Studies (Public Safety and Security) and Political Science from Columbus State University. He is a graduate of the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command and is currently a Juris Doctor candidate at Georgia State University College of Law.
